Walberswick, Suffolk Coast

We arrived at Sonia and Chaz’s house which is beautifully decorated with superb garden. Besides a great variety of birds Sonia also gets pheasants, rabbits, hedgehogs, and small deer in her garden.

Dinner at “The Crown” in Southold was good with Andrea and Anna as well. It was Anna's birthday.

Next morning we did a walk on the marshes in front of Sonia’s and up to Hoist Covet. I saw the rare Marsh Harriers that have only recently started increasing in numbers in Britain being virtually extinct in the mid 20th Century.

Beach at Walberswick, it is pebbly

Then off for lunch at “The Harbour” over the river from Walberswick to Southold again. Pauline, Bernard (Ron’s brother), Sarah (his niece) and Av her boyfriend joined us. This time we walked over using the bailey bridge. Ron gave Sonia a quick military history lesson on the Bailey’s bridges, (lucky her it is usually me). A lunch of fish and chips followed.

We come back on the ferry which is a row boat with a lovely man rowing. - cost 80p. Really nice spots are Walberswick and Southold as the locals would say.
